Prestwich Under-13s are celebrating a double triumph.

They won the league cup final against an unbeaten Denton side, and followed this up with victory over Woodbank in the play-off final.

Denton had set a target of 128 from their allotted 20 overs, which Prestwich reached in thrilling fashion with four balls to spare.

After finishing runners-up in the 11-team league, Prestwich beat Stretford in a bowl-out to earn a place in the play-off final. Prestwich posted a score of 111 for 4 against Woodbank, and a superb bowling and fielding performance restricted the opponents to 97 for 6, to give them success by 14 runs.

Team manager Brian Ahern said: "At the start of the season, I would have been happy with a top four finish, but I underestimated the progress of the squad and to end with two cups and a runners-up spot is fantastic."
