BURY Amateurs went down to a 2-1 defeat to Boothstown in the Lancashire and Cheshire League Division Three despite an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Ryan McDonald.

Anthony Jackson’s finishing touch to a superb Aiden Ryan pass looked to have earned a point until an 87th minute winner for the visitors.

Amateurs’ reserves also lost a close encounter with Whalley Range – Daniel Williams the only scorer in a 2-1 defeat. The third team fared better with a 7-1 drubbing of Stalybridge Lions, which included two goals each for Carl Rogerson and Sam Bradshaw, and one each for Matty Moore and Callum Moores plus an own goal.
