BURY Amateurs first team gained a hard-fought point against Lancashire and Cheshire League Division Three leaders Whalley Range at Drinkwater Park on Saturday.

Strikes in the opening 20 minutes from Dave Lowe and Matt Cook gave Ammies a 2-0 lead, but Whalley Range pulled a goal back just before the break and scored an equaliser with 20 minutes to go.

Both teams had chances to win the game in the final period but, overall, a draw was a fair result.

Amateurs’ third team gained a much-needed win at home to Burnage Metros. Goals in each half from both Carl Rogerson and Sam Bradshaw secured the points in a 4-1 victory.

The under-14s beat Prestwich Town 5-0, with two goals from Zeekal Parkes and one each from Liam Ahern, Jack Brayshaw and Ronan McAlinden.
