OLD Standians started the new season in fine form with a superb 3-1 victory over Chadderton in Lancashire Amateur League Division Two.

In an end-to-end match, they went into the lead after 28 minutes when Matty Martin fired home after good work from Chris Butterworth and Jamie Hulme.

Chadderton then had a man sent-off for kicking a Standians player and the Whitefield side proceeded to dominate.

Hulme made it 2-0 before Martin converted a dubious penalty to seal the points before Chaddertons netted a consolation.

To cap a fantastic weekend, the reserves won 3-0 at Bolton Wyresdale.

Standians, who were in action against Radcliffe Boys last night, visit Bury GSOB reserves on Saturday.
