PRESTWICH narrowed the gap at the top of the Lancashire Amateur League Division One to just two points with an 8-0 drubbing of fourth-place Old Blackburnians Reserves at Heys Road on Saturday.

There was a hat-trick for leading scorer Sean Haslam and braces for Lee Bushell and Paul Taylor with Danny Smith also firing in a direct free-kickto put the icing on the cake.

The Reserves continued their title charge with an 8-1 win at Mostonians A.

Phil Byrnes grabbed a hat-trick while Kieran Doherty and Mike Seers scored two each with Andrew Morrissey also getting on the scoresheet with a free-kick in the first half.

Prestwich A also made ground in Division Six North with a 2-0 win over Broughton Amateurs B at Drinkwater Park. Goals from Daniel Ingham and Paul McGovern sealed the win as Craig Howarth’s men finally recorded their first clean sheet of the season.
