BURY maintained their incredible record of winning every away league game this season with a dramatic 93rd-minute winner by Tony Subachus.

The win effectively clinched promotion and the Manchester League First Division title for the Cams Lane club.

Ammies took the game to Albion from the start, and within 20 minutes Pete and Craig Hickford and Lee Bruce all went agonisingly close.

The pressure was relentless but the big, well-organised Albion side showed why they had not lost in seven matches by standing firm.

Gav Campbell kept the score even with a superb one-on-one save after 75 minutes. Bury should have gone ahead when they were awarded a penalty, but Lee Bruce saw his spot-kick saved and then headed the rebound wide.

But Ammies finally got the goal they craved when a long punt out of defence cleared Albion’s centre halves and landed at the feet of Subachus who had only been on the field for five minutes. He kept his cool and fired home a half volley.

Bury Amateurs play in the Kenyon Cup final on Monday, kick off 6.30pm. Admission is £3 adults and £2 juniors and OAPs. Bury are hoping to have the league trophy presented before the game.
