PAUL McGovern and Shaun Jackson sealed Prestwich’s win and cemented their place at the top of the Lancashire Amateur League Division Two.

The home side snuffed out any early threat from Lee Metcalfe’s men while finding themselves knocking at the Prestwich door on a number of occasions.

Prestwich grabbed the lead five minutes after the restart as Paul McGovern pounced on a loose ball to slot into the empty net.

At the other end, the home side searched for an equaliser and somehow sent a close-range header off target as a corner found an unmarked man at the far post.

That miss proved costly as within three minutes Jackson stole the ball off a defender before racing into the box and sending a low shot across the keeper and in to the far corner.

Prestwich’s Sunday team moved up to fifth as they eased to a 3-0 win over MPG in the Bury Premier Division at Heys Road.
