BURY Amateurs were sent crashing out of the Division One Supplementary Cup by a rampant Breightmet side.

With both teams set to battle it out in the title race, psychological points were at stake and the home side certainly took them.

Bury started well with Lee Bruce and Will Mayo looking a real threat, showing great movement into space and ever prepared to run at the United defence. Andy Kennedy hit the post with a stinging strike before the Bolton hosts stormed into a two-goal lead. The Ammies were not going to lie down, however, and Tino Blake scored a stunning solo goal before a defensive mistake by Rick Young saw the two-goal deficit restored.

And Breightmet made it four to cap a miserable afternoon for Pete Hickford’s Ammies side, who host Beechfield United at Cams Lane, Radcliffe, on Saturday, kick-off 2pm.
