GOALS from Richard Steadman and Paul O’Donnell gave the Lancashire Amateur League Division Two leaders Prestwich a fine victory at Goshen.

Fourth-placed Saints, with four successive wins behind then found Prestwich a tough nut to crack. Stephen Foley’s 25th minute free kick pinballed on the edge of the Rochdale six-yard box before defender Steadman reacted first to poke the ball over the line to break the deadlock. With 15 minutes remaining, the home side got the killer second goal when Sean Haslam’s low cross was tipped by the Saints keeper into the path of O’Donnell, who made no mistake from 10 yards. Prestwich notched up another vital three points ahead of the visit of Old Boltonians Reserves on Saturday, kick-off 2.30pm.
