Philips High School has a track record for sporting prowess - and has proved it yet again.

For pupils at the Whitefield school emerged as the overall champions in the Bury Schools Athletics Championships for the fifth year in a row.

The event, involving 13 schools, took place at the Bury Athletic Club track in Market Street.

Other accolades for Philips saw their year 10/11 girls and boys squads emerge as champions for the fourth and fifth consecutive years in a row respectively. The school's year seven boys emerged as runners-up in while year eight/nine girls and boys each took third place.

Philips pupils who took medal honours were:

GOLD. Year seven: Lewis Costello – 800 metres; Romario Swaby – 400 metres; Luc Haslam, Marcus Dackers, Romario Swaby and and Taylor O’Keefe - all relay. Year eight/nine: Charlotte Plant – long jump; Devon Alleyne – discus, personal best and new Bury record; Alex Plumb – javelin, personal best and new Bury record. Year 10/11: Adolphe Wandji – 800 metres and 400 metres.

SILVER. Year eight/nine: Livvy Sharman – discus; Julian Rosbach – triple jump; Charlotte Plant – 100 metres; Mia Bailey, Charlotte Plant, Ehianna Gold and Lily Philips – all relay. Year 10/11: Charlotte Quigg – discus; Isaiah Manney – high jump; Rachel Rollason – 800 metres; Angeline Mabhena, Kerrianne Lysaght, Rachel Rollason and Charlotte Quigg - all relay

BRONZE. Year seven: Taylor O’Keefe – 100 metres. Year eight/nine: Alex Plumb – shot; Reece Hodgson – high jump. Year10/11: Charlotte Quigg – shot; Kerrianne Lysaght – javelin; Jack Torbitt – discus; Kai Haslam – 200 metres; Quinn Frost – 1,500 metres; Ellis Browne – 100 metres and Tommy Lidster – triple jump
