The treble-winning nine-a-side football team from St Margaret's Primary School in Prestwich are pictured celebrating this year's overwhelming success with team sponsor Shirley Redford from Prestwich Pharmacy. The team won every match in the Prestwich and Whitefield JSSA football league to run out champions.

The youngsters also made history by claiming victories in two cup finals for the first time, winning the Crofton Cup by beating Higher Lane 7-4 and clinching an unprecedented treble with a 4-2 victory in the Bury JSSA Trophy against Tottington Primary 4-2, in what was a showcase for excellence and sportsmanship in schools football.

Teacher Brian Ashby- Smith said: "They are a very talented a group of children who have been wonderful representatives for St Margaret's. I have not necessarily had the best players, but I have had the best team who have played for each other, been resilient and a pleasure to have managed. To finish the season unbeaten and treble winners is a magnificent achievement and one which we are all very proud of."
