PRESTWICH FC head to face Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division leaders Old Boltonians on Saturday in a match chairman John Haslam has labelled as “must-win”.

Champions Prestwich slipped to a second defeat of the season when they went down 4-2 at home to Tottington United last weekend and currently sit six points adrift of their table-topping rivals who they pipped to the title last season.

And despite being just six games into the new season, Haslam appreciates the importance of the fixture at Chapeltown.

Haslam told The Guide: “It is a massive game for us.

“In this division, slipping too far behind early on can be a major problem.

“We have had a mixed start for one reason or another with key players unavailable and we know how important Saturday is.

“If we lose and slip nine points behind then it will be very hard for us to catch up and challenge.

“We will not have as many players back as we would like at weekend but maybe one could return and when we get closer to full-strength and not as fragmented it will be better.”

Meanwhile, the club is still looking for a new manager to run the reserve team.
