work is progressing on the £575,000 redevelopment of Prestwich Cricket, Tennis and Bowling Club.

Construction of new changing rooms, which started in September, is on course for completion in April.

The new block will provide four large male and female changing rooms with en-suite showers plus facilities for officials and disabled members.

The third phase of the project — the extension of the existing clubhouse, lounge and bar and internal refurbishment — is due to start in the next few weeks.

Club Chairman Brian Lorenzini said: “This scheme has been years in the planning and now being able to see the results building up around the club is fantastic.”

“It’s testament to all the long, hard work so many people have put in to the project and ensures we can be at the forefront of sporting activities for our members and the community for many years to come.”

Prestwich Cricket Club’s winter nets start on Monday at Old Trafford’s indoor cricket centre. There are three nets including one for juniors and the sessions are for one hour from 8pm.

Meanwhile, the tennis club is looking for male or female players above the age of 16 to train as Level One coaching assistants. Applications should be made to Keith Mills at or by calling 0161 773 1677 before March 1.

The tennis club also has a number of coaching sessions taking place during the winter. There is squad coaching for players aged 12 to 18 years old who want to improve their team game including tactics and strategies for doubles play and costs £5 per person per session.

There are also numerous dates remaining until the end of March on the club’s winter junior coaching programme which caters for youngsters from eight years old.

For further information or to book a place on any of the above courses, contact Mills.
