STAND moved up to seventh place in Division One of the Greater Manchester Cricket League after beating Worsley to record their third victory of the campaign.

Closing out matches has not always been easy for Stuart Catterall's side since promotion last year but an unbroken third-wicket stand of 102 between Danish Ateeq (57 not out) and Ali Azmat (43no) helped them overcome an early wobble in their reply against the division's basement club.

Ateeq (3-32) and Azmat (2-42) also shared five wickets between them, while Jamie King took 2-14 as Worsley were bowled out for 114.

And while Stand were 16-2 early in their reply, they eventually cruised to an eight-wicket victory inside 16 overs as the side's two star men on the day hit 19 boundaries between them.

"It was a very good team performance, and rounded off an excellent day for the club," said skipper Catterall.

"It was our charity day, raising funds for Boot Out Breast Cancer, and thanks should go to Worsley for embracing this as well."
