A BODY found in Drinkwater Park yesterday is that of a missing Prestwich pensioner.
Edyth Beryl Burney was last seen at her home in the St Mary's area around 8pm last Thursday. Bury police launched a borough-wide appeal to locate Mrs Burney less than 24 hours after she failed to return home. However, a member of the public discovered Mrs Burney's body near to a lodge in Drinkwater Park at 11.30am yesterday.
Detectives initially launched an investigation, although a Home Office post-mortem examination has confirmed that the 73-year-old died from natural causes.
