CRIMINALS have taken advantage of people leaving their windows open in the hot weather to steal two cars.

Burglars snuck into a house in Heys Road, Prestwich in the early hours of this morning.

Using the open windows, the offenders were able to slip inside, and make off with two vehicles.

Officers have warned residents to be careful about leaving door and windows unlocked.

A spokesman for GMP Prestwich said: "Please be mindful about leaving doors and windows unlocked or open when you are not present.

"Don't give burglars the opportunity."

Although the hot weather has forced many people to try anything to stay cool, residents are urged to close their doors and windows whenever they leave the house.

People should also consider closing windows, particularly those on the ground floor, at night.
