A FEMALE pedestrian has been seriously injured in a crash in a main road in Whitefield.
Police and paramedics are on the scene in Radcliffe New Road and an air ambulance was spotted by residents.
A 35-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving.
A collision between a vehicle and a female pedestrian is believed to occurred at around 4.30pm in Radcliffe New Road, close to the Esso garage.
The female pedestrian has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and it is understood that a man aged 35 has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Transport for Greater Manchester said the road is closed in both directions between Stand Lane and Dales Lane due to the RTC.
They added that people should seek an alternative route and delays are to be expected.
Go North West said that their services were set to be delayed as the incident is dealt with.
They tweeted: "Due to traffic congestion around Radcliffe due to incident on Radcliffe new road our #GNW98 has average delays of 15 minutes, maximum delays 16 mins. Apologies for the inconvenience."
