COMMUNITY groups in Bury and Greater Manchester are to receive over £90,000 in grants from the Parklife music festival.

A total of 51 organisations will be awarded a share of the cash raised by popular annual event.

Among them are 45 groups from across the borough and Heaton Park.

A spokesman for Parklife said: "This weekend would have seen the return of Parklife 2020, but with the festival no longer taking place organisers are keen to keep the spirit of Parklife alive by continuing to support local organisations via its Community Fund.

"Parklife are proud to announce that, for the first time, they are distributing Micro Grants to local community groups, a new initiative that was set up in 2019 — Parklife’s 10th Anniversary year — as part of the festival’s Community Fund; now in its fourth year."

The Parklife Community Fund works with Bury, Manchester and Rochdale councils to support a variety of projects.

Particular attention is given to groups which utilise parks or open spaces.

A fund of £92,000 was raised by last year's Parklife Festival, thanks to guest-list attendees and donations of tickets to charities for raffles and auctions

Micro grants of up to £500 will given to the chosen beneficiaries this month.
