MP James Daly has joined with local businesses to help deliver freshly-made meals to elderly residents in Bury care homes

Senior constituents and care staff in the homes benefited from the meals.

The Bury North MP helped to deliver over 60 freshly made meals to three local care homes, which included Peachment Place on St. Peter’s Road, Bluebird Care on Brierley Street, and Bankfield Care Home on Gigg Lane.

James Daly MP said: “We are trying to reach out to the elderly and their care workers by delivering delicious meals as a mark of respect for their contribution and dedication to the community”.

Nichola, manager of Bluebird Care Bury said, “Staff have appreciated the fact that the MP has taken time out from his busy schedule to speak with care workers about the issues they are facing during the coronavirus crises - and not only that - he’s personally delivered a hot meal to them as well”.

The home added in a post on their Facebook page: "A huge thank you to James who came down to show his appreciation for the hard work and commitment our care workers have shown, and will continue to show during this pandemic.

"Our care workers are out on the front line putting the health of others before their own and ensuring those most vulnerable remain safe and well during this unprecedented crisis. We are so incredibly proud of the work they are doing and we speak on behalf of the nation when we say couldn’t be more grateful.

"We would also like to thank all those from Topshop Off-licence and Rochdale ROAD Chippy for providing delicious meals to keep our care workers going through their evening shift."

Mr Shah, owner of Rochdale Road Chippy in Bury said that he contacted Mr Daly last week to say that he wanted to help him deliver meals to those who were housebound during the ongoing period of difficulty.

Abu Bakar, owner of Top Shop on Hurst Street, Bury, said: “I saw this as an ideal opportunity to serve those people that are often forgotten or overlooked”.
