A PRESTWICH couple are hoping to cook up a storm as they open a new restaurant in Manchester.
Joe Byrne, aged 22, and his partner Christiee Mundy, aged 26, will throw open the doors at Herd NQ, a permanent pop-up steakhouse in the city centre's Northern Quarter, on February 13.
The eatery is located inside the Allotment horticulture-infused cocktail bar and restaurant on Dale Street, where Mr Byrne and Ms Mundy had previously been head chefs.
However the young couple are now branching out with their own unique offering.
Mr Byrne said: "Myself and Christiee met in the industry five years ago and between us we have 13 years of experience. But this is our first go at owning our own place.
"We are really excited and a lot of work has gone into the last few months. Although there are obviously some nerves we can't wait to open and show people what we can do."
Herd NQ specialises in steak and dishes cooked from local produce, getting much of its ingredients from independent producers and suppliers.
Diners can look forward to digging into dishes including 30-day-aged steaks, braised beef cheeks, and pan-roasted chicken and cod.
It will also offer vegetarian and vegan options, such as beetroot wellington, and mouthwatering desserts and sweets.
Mr Byrne added: "Our food is locally sourced and sustainable and our vision is about the best quality sold at a reasonable price.
"For example our meat is coming from The Butcher's Quarter on Tib Street which does amazing beef, and all our dairy will be coming from within two miles of Manchester."
Herd NQ is open from 12pm to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on Sundays.
