Two friends from Bury are playing 13 hours of golf on Sunday for a cause close to their club’s heart.
Sam Lambert, 22, and Elliott Whalley, 21, met through playing the sport around 12 years ago and are preparing for their third golfing fundraiser, the 100 Hole Challenge at Greenmount Golf Club.
Money raised will to Bury Hospice.
Starting at around 4.15 am, the pair estimate the game will last between 12 and 13 hours and amount to around 55,000 steps.
Sam said: “It is going to be a challenge and a bit of a long slog, but it is all for a good cause that is close to many of our members' hearts.
“Last time we had quite a few people come and walk with us, bring snacks, and keep us company so it was a good crack.
“I’m just hoping the weather holds up and we don’t get any thunder or lightning while we play.”
The day coincides with the Greenmount Golf Club Summer BBQ, which starts at 5.30pm although the bar will be open all day.
Tickets can be bought at the bar and are priced at £10 per adult and £5 for under 16s.
Sam said: “We did a 72-hole challenge in 2022 but our last 100-hole challenge was back in 2020 so it might feel a bit tougher this time around.

“We will be tired by the end of it but is going to be nice to finish off, have a beer and enjoy the BBQ and rest of the evening with everyone.”

So far, the pair have raised just under £1,400 and say they hope to reach or exceed their target of £2,500.
