An animal charity has warned potential pet owners of grooming costs as more matted animals are rescued in Edenfield.
Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary has reported several cases of matted fur with the latest rescue needing anaesthetic to have it removed.
Bobby the Shih Tzu was found as a stray in the Bury area and was described to be in a "state" and his eyelashes had become intertwined with his fur
Sallie Conroy, rehoming supervisor for dogs, said: “Unfortunately this is another case of extremely matted fur.
“Bobby was in such a state.
"His eyelashes were intertwined into his fur and, where he had been trying to chew through, he has hair stuck to his teeth, all of which will have to be surgically removed.
“We can’t see his teeth to judge his age yet but he will feel a lot better once it’s all removed.”
Bobby was found in Bury and taken to the rescue centre where he will be put under anaesthetic to have his fur removed.

The charity has warned potential pet owners to consider grooming costs when buying a dog as well as vet bills and food.
Bleakholt has shared Bobby’s story and asked anyone who is able to donate to help with the costs “of making Bobby feel a lot better”.
Bobby is not yet ready for rehoming.
