AN ARTIST has waxed lyrical about the the "last of the Cumbrian horse ploughmen".
Robin Oliver, who grew at a farm at "the foot of Cold Fell" has put together words and pictures detailing the life and background of James Ernest Elliott.
The 'Focus' piece went live on Robins website last week.
Both Robin and James came from farms in the Brampton area.
On his website Robin wrote: "Erian, strain, sweat, grind, strive, labour, toil, breaking open into furrows, even depth, cutting a straight line, turning over weeds, stubble and grass, drawing on his experience, instinct and know-how.
"Jim's practised at digging deep, the mind, body and soul of the ploughman."
In February Robin also wrote a Valentine love note about the romance of local farming.
He wrote A Lifetime Wedded to Hard Graft, about the area he loves and February 14 visits to a heart shaped mound of stones at a fell's summit.
At the time Robin said: "It is about recording a moment or feeling captured in time.
"A response to what is there in front of you, imagined, or memories from childhood."
