A man has been charged following a number of thefts from a supermarket.

57-year-old William Henderson, of Bury Road, Breightmet, has been charged with five counts of theft over the last month, according to police.

Police say between December 11 2020 and January 14 this year they received five reports of theft from a supermarket on Breightmet Fold Lane.

The value of these thefts totalled £136.42.

Police say Mr Henderson has been remanded in police custody to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court on January 19.

A GMP Bolton North Facebook post said: "A man has been charged following a number of thefts in Breightmet.

"William Henderson (24/04/1963) of Bury Road, Breightmet has been charged with five counts of theft.

"Between Friday December 11 2020 and Thursday January 14 2021, police received reports of five thefts from a supermarket on Breightmet Fold Lane, to the total value of £136.42.

"Henderson has been remanded in police custody to appear at Wigan & Leigh Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Tuesday 19th January 2021)."
