UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies after crash
A road has been closed this evening due to a serious collision.
Police were called around 4:10pm today to reports that a motorcycle and a car had collided in Ashton Road.
The road has been closed in both directions since 5pm from Fir Tree Avenue to Honeywell Lane due to the collision outside Park Cakes Bakeries.
Diversions are in place and the 409 bus has been affected.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Emergency services are currently attending a serious road traffic collision in Oldham.
"Officers were called around 4.10pm this afternoon (Monday January 18) to a report that a motorcycle and a car had been in collision on Ashton Road, Oldham.
"Emergency services are in attendance.
"Road closures are in place. Follow @OfficialTfGM for updates."
