THE FIRST Covid-19 patient has been selected to take part in a new trial at Bolton NHS Trust.
The patient will participate in a randomised control trial for patients with the virus, Catalyst.
The trial allows doctors to help treat COVID-19 patients with new medications, and the Trust is currently trialling Namilumab on the critical care unit as part of this study.
There are plans to roll this out to Covid wards in the near future.
The Trust has also played a vital role in developing safe and effective Covid-19 treatments by participating in the Recovery trial of existing drugs, looking for therapies for the coronavirus infection.
In total 176 NHS hospitals took part in the Recovery trial, led by the University of Oxford.
Over 12,000 patients were recruited nationally to the Recovery trial.
Meanwhile 81 patients have currently been recruited to the trial at Bolton.
