A strongman competition held in Kearsley saw some impressive displays of stamina, determination and, of course, strength.
Competitors took part in a variety of categories at the contest held at the Unity Brook pub earlier this month, including log presses, lifting giant dumbbells and even pulling trucks.
The contest was organised by a gym owner from Atherton who became a fan of the sport after surviving several cardiac arrests.
Kev Nield, who runs his own gym in Salford, also took part in the contest himself.
Wanting to share his passion for the sport, Kev put together the contest so that other strongmen could show off their skills and put on a spectacle for those who came along to watch.
Kev, 46, got into the sport following several cardiac arrests in 2015, making his achievements even more impressive.
Having previously taught kickboxing, he now teaches strongman too and is a huge advocate of the sport.
He said: "It’s something people can learn to do quite quickly and it’s a great way of getting in shape, you see results fast.
“Doctors have told me I’ve now got the heart of a 30-year-old, I’ve boosted my fitness.
"The competition was a brilliant day, we had loads of people turn up to watch.
"We made sure social distancing was in place and the event was covid secure.
"There were 10 of us competing, we had a DJ and a hog roast, it was amazing."
