TWO new ‘pop up’ road crossings are to be installed in Prestwich.
The toucan crossings which have been approved for Bury New Road are at Sedgley Park Road, to replace an existing pedestrian refuge and to the south of St Mary’s Road.
Bury Council undertook a formal advertisement period for the proposed introduction of the crossings which has now come to an end.
A decision notice on the plans, stated: “No objections were received regarding these proposals and it is now proposed to implement these measures on site.
“No traffic management minutes are provided due to the timescales and fast track nature of this initiative.
“This is part of the Greater Manchester Emergency Active Travel Fund submission to create temporary ‘pop-up’ crossings on the A56 between St Mary’s Road and the Salford border to enhance pedestrian and cycling facilities on this route.
“It is hoped that these crossings will become permanent features.”
