A WORK placement programme at Royal Bolton Hospital has helped secure a full time job for a young mum.

Horwich mum Niamh, 19, was supported by the Enhancing Families team during her pregnancy and the months following the birth.

They helped her find a placement on the E5 ward in early 2019, she then undertook voluntary work on the maternity unit.

This month Niamh will start her role as a Health Care Assistant.

She said:“I really enjoyed both my work experience and voluntary placement and I’m so pleased to have been given the opportunity of a full time role, and to learn new skills.

"The team helped me with becoming a young mum, and gave me the confidence in myself to look for opportunities so that I could give my little boy the best possible start in life. I’m really grateful for the support they’ve given us.”

Caroline Little, Enhancing Families Nurse said:“Niamh is an excellent mum to her little boy, and also a great example of how young parents can achieve their goals.”
