A TYPHOON performed a thunderous display high above York today.
The quiet of lockdown was broken just after 3pm, causing home-workers and families to break off from their activities to go outside and watch the spectacle.
The agile combat aircraft looped, turned and rolled in the cloudless sky, with its wings shining in the sunlight.
An aeroplane enthusiast told The Press it was a Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4, which is one of two at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire, flying at 12,000 feet on its way to The Humber.
Just been treated to a fantastic, thunderous air display over #York by a #EurofighterTyphoonFGR4 from @RAFConingsby flying at 12,000ft on its way to the Humber (as I’ve been reliably informed by my neighbour) #lockdownentertainment #bluesky #workingfromhome pic.twitter.com/daZ0tEUbgB

He said the clear air space above the Vale of York also attracted American F-15 Eagle, an all-weather, maneuverable, tactical fighter, from RAF Lakenheath, which usually fly in pairs.
Press Camera Club member Lynnette Cammidge captured the Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 as it flew over Heslington.
