THE manager of a supermarket has asked fit and able customers to park further from the store entrance to ease shopping for the elderly and disabled.
The boss of Asda on School Street in Darwen has made the appeal through local councillor Roy Davies.
He wants most customers of the store to use the top section of the car park.
Darwen East’s Cllr Davies said: “I have been asked by the manager of Asda in Darwen for help on parking for older people and ones with difficulty walking.
“The problem is that with the council-run car parks under the market now being closed, people with walking difficulties are having to park on the top car park and then carry heavy bags of shopping back to their cars.
“I am asking for shoppers who are fit enough to carry their shopping up to the top car park to park there and leave the Asda car park free for older and disabled people to use.”
