A FORMER opticians in the heart of Lymm village is set to become a cafe and takeaway - despite concerns from neighbours.

Plans have been granted to convert the Adcott Opticians unit.

Adcott's has moved to a larger premises nearby in Lymm.

The cafe site is next to the Sainsbury's close to historic The Cross.

Developers put in an application to use the building as a cafe/restaurant and hot food takeaway late last tear.

The planning application said: "The neighbouring units offer a mix of uses and the introduction of a café/restaurant and hot food takeaway unit this location will enhance the services on offer to the local area.

"Changes of use that do not result in the loss of viable convenience shops, cultural facilities, public houses or impact the diversity of services in communities will be approved."

One neighbour objected citing concerns over the impact of the move on people living in Lymm.

They said: "We have litter problems nightly on the village Cross and trouble most weekends with youths hanging around the Cross area, shouting at times, causing trouble, throwing rubbish and bottles around.

"Sainsbury's due to this and a robbery, have now opted to close at 10 pm instead of 11pm due to the trouble caused.

"Another takeaway will just add to the problem which already exists in the village centre."

However the application was approved by Warrington Borough Council planning officers earlier this month.
