A TEENAGER has been chosen to host an annual dinner for a community charity awards evening.
Sifa Turi, a 15-year-old pupil at Pleckgate High School and member of One Voice Blackburn’s West End Girls - a young people's group - will host the event for the first time.
As well as celebrating the achievements of the organisation the One Voice dinner, at King George’s Hall on Saturday, February 22, plays hosts to community champion awards.
Sponsored by Together Housing, Blackburn College and the Arts Council, one of the key aims is the empowerment of women, especially from the South Asian heritage community.
Sifa said: “Being given the chance to host the annual dinner is such an honour and so exciting.
“Although it is going to be nerve-racking and is going to take a lot of preparation, I’m ready to take this on.
"I’d like to thank all the directors for giving me the opportunity to host such an important event, I hope I can make everyone proud.”
