A MAN has been charged in connection with a number of driving offences and also assaulting a police officer.

David Samuel Ellis of Farmers Close, Sale has been charged with a number of offences after he was stopped driving a White Transit Connect.

Officers posted on the GMP Trafford South page about the incident and how he was charged on Saturday.

The post read: 'the charges include: assault on an emergency worker for biting a police officer breaking the skin, refusing to provide a breath specimen at the roadside, Drink driving after providing a specimen of 96ugs in custody (limit is 35), Driving whilst disqualified, Driving with no insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with his licence as he only ever held a provisional, failing to wear his seatbelt.

"The level of violence shown to myself and colleague who he bitten is not acceptable, the matter will now be for the court to decide on his punishment."

The 45-year-old has been bailed to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on March 4, 2020.
