AUTUMNAL weather has hit the borough today and it seems Bury is in for a soaking over the next 24 hours.
A Yellow weather warning for rain has been issued by the Met Office with heavy and persistent downpours set to batter Bury and the North West well into Saturday.
Some areas of Northern England could see up to 70mm of rain, especially on high ground, and 25 to 45mm is expected to fall widely.
There is also a chance of snow on higher Pennine routes.
The inclement weather brings the possibility of some flooding and householders and businesses are being warned to take measures to protect their properties from damage.
There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life and some communities could be cut off by flooded roads, the Met Office says.
Motorists are advised to take caution on the roads as spray and sitting water could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures.
While people using trains and buses may face cancellations and delays where flooding occurs.
However it is expected that the rain will clear away to the south east from 3pm on Saturday afternoon.
