Bosses at Newsquest are offering laid-off Thomas Cook staff the chance to apply for sales jobs after a devastating end to the travel firm.

Following the collapse of the company, more than 9,000 staff members were left without jobs and are now uncertain about their futures.

Other airlines have advertised roles for some of the crew to apply for, but there are still not enough for the amount of people now without jobs.

Newsquest and LocalIQ - which publishes titles including the Lancashire Telegraph, the Bolton News, the Oldham Times, Chorley Citizen, the Bury Times and Messenger - have advertised a number of roles in the North West.

A spokesman said: "Following the devastating news from Thomas Cook, we at Newsquest & LocaliQ want to help where we can.

"We currently have a wide range of sales roles available across the North West and North of Wales, from Telesales to specialist Field Sales positions.

"You can browse the full list of opportunities here or send your details to“

More than 150,000 British holidaymakers are currently abroad and will need to be repatriated as a result of the 178-year-old firm's collapse.

McDonald's in Preston also offered Thomas Cook staff jobs by applying online.
