THIS week’s old picture has been submitted by reader Frank Lee and is of an Eagley Cricket Club team.

The former team skipper is now 89 and living in Astley Bridge, and thinks the picture was taken in the 1960s.

He wondered if any readers had any memories of that time.

Among those in the team shot with Frank are Manny Martindale, a West Indian Test player.

Do you remember that team or recognise anyone else pictured?

Email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk with any recollections.

THE second picture was published a year ago in the sporting nostalgia section in September 2018 and features a Mount St Joseph's School team from 1987.

Another reader has anonymously sent in memories of that team and the Bolton Wanderers Schools' Cup final they played at Burnden Park.

He said: "I played in that game for Mount St Joseph's and we won 3-2.

"It was my dad who arranged for us to be in the the home dressing room and as a surprise for me and my pals, the Bolton kit was hanging for us to wear.

"I have all the the game on the old VHS format, as he got the first-team matchday camera man to record it.

"We also also got to final the year after at Burnden Park and retained the cup – winning 5-1 in our last year at school.

"We won in second year as well but teachers went on strike in our third year so we didn't enter.

"We lost one game in four years. I didn't play in the first year, only from second year on.

"I remember my pals Troy T , Ezzy W, Kev C, Micky G and Micky Whitehead – hard, hard boys."
