AN IT project manager has been selected as the Liberal Democrat's General Election candidate for Ribble Valley.

Chantelle Seddon, of Clitheroe, will take on long-serving Conservative MP Nigel Evans when the expected nationwide poll is finally called.

The arch-Brexiteer, who has represented the seat since 1992, had a majority of 13,199 in 2017.

Married to Ross, Mrs Seddon is a qualified project manager and travels the UK providing training and support with IT systems and process within the veterinary industry.

She said: “Whether a General Election is called within the next few weeks or the next few months, the local Liberal Democrat team and I are ready.”

At university Chantelle studied primary education and worked with Aim Higher as a young adult with the aim of removing barriers for low income and ethnic minority young people to encourage them to aspire to higher education.

This week’s Lib Dem conference committed the party to scrapping Brexit if it wins power in the next election. and campaigning for a second Euro-referendum in the interim.
