A NEW cocktail and wine bar has opened in Warrington’s Cultural Quarter.

Bold Street House launched at the weekend after four months of work transforming the former Window Dreams shop. As well as being a new spot for nights out, the bar doubles as a coffee shop by day and offers small artisan dishes such as cheese and charcuterie boards, mini fishcakes, homemade pates and truffle and parmesan fries.

Jenny Arnot, owner and general manager, said: “The opening weekend was incredible, we had so much support from so many lovely people and the feedback was better than we ever imagined.

Warrington Guardian:

“We bought the building at the end of last year and got the keys in May. The building is listed so we have done as much as possible to restore what we could including some fantastic shutters in the front room and a black and red quarry tile floor which took us and all of our families days and days on end to scrub and polish.

“We have gone for a casual yet sophisticated atmosphere which is unpretentious but really focuses on the details when it comes to good old fashioned hospitality. Guests can sit at the bar chat to our bar tenders or have a seat at a table where we offer table service all day.”

The favourite cocktail so far is Cut Rum Old Fashioned which is a blend of smoked rum, sugar and orange bitters.

Jenny added: “We also serve an old fashioned sharing board, where the customer can choose a bottle of bourbon for their table and we will provide a selection of gommes (syrups), bitters and garnish along with a quick lesson on making an old fashioned before leaving them to experiment and find their favourite combination.”

Jenny was previously an operations manager for the Lounges group for seven years and opened 38 of their cafe bars across the north west including Dorado Lounge in the Old Fish Market.

Her business partner Michael Butler also spent four years working for the group.

Jenny, who is originally from Scotland but has lived in Warrington for three years, said: “They taught us everything we know and really inspired us to have the courage to open our own venture.

“I love Warrington and just wanted to create something a little different that offers a city centre vibe without having to get on the train.

“In the coming months we also hope to start up some wine tastings, cocktail masterclasses and a supper club.”

Jenny also reserved special thanks to CRS Building and Roofing who carried out the internal works.
