MORE than 30 of Yellow Buses' drivers have achieved 'Fleet Elite' status, after their driving skills were monitored to see how environmentally-friendly they were.

Installed on all Yellow Buses, the GreenRoad Safety & Fleet Management platform was introduced three years ago to enhance the fleet's emissions profile and improve safety.

Yellow Buses says virtually all of its drivers are now classed as 'green' and 26 achieved Fleet Elite status.

Company service delivery director Phil Pannell said: "As a company that is serious about customer service and environmental responsibility, we are proud of the results that GreenRoad has helped us achieve.

"The real-time coaching has helped our drivers reach a world-class level of safety.

"The platform fosters friendly competition to see who can achieve the best safety score, making it natural for everyone to continually improve their driving.

"From a management level, we monitor safety scores and incident reports on a weekly basis, and offer extra mentoring to drivers who need our support."

The system, which provides real-time tracking, gives drivers instant feedback about their manoeuvres and encourages smoother, safer and more fuel-efficient driving.

Results show the company exceeded its fuel efficiency goals and reduced its already-low accident rate by an additional 12 per cent in the last year.

Mr Pannell said: "By combining GreenRoad’s technology with management commitment, recognition and training, we have achieved superb results, and we intend to continue to improve in the future.”

Meanwhile, Richard Hemming, of GreenRoad, said: "We congratulate Yellow Buses on its impressive safety record and are proud of the part that our platform has played in helping them achieve such a high standard.

"Yellow Buses’ customers and the entire Bournemouth region should take comfort in the fact that their transportation provider continually seeks out ways to provide them with the safest, most comfortable and most environmentally responsible experience possible.”
