THE summer may have gone so we thought of taking a trip down memory lane and look back on smiling faces at festivals and events throughout time.

We have delved into the archives to get photographs that should stir happy memories for our readers.

So we have found photos from the Lions Gala in Blackburn from 1992.

One of the images shows eight-year-old Lisa Bateson, sister five-year-old Laura and 11-year-old David McLeod having a ride on the Thomas the Tank Engine event.

There are lots of photographs of family-fun from the occasion and all the usual features of a Gala event such as Gala Princess Samantha Whiteley and Gala Queen Caroline Cocker taking part in the procession.

Then as you would expect from summer events, you cannot trust the weather as Lorraine Elliot, Enid Aspin, Irene Bolton are sheltering under the umbrella.

The crowds turned out in force as you can see from the people at the roadshow too.

Another photograph shows Susan Hickley and her daughter eight-year-old Michaela of Darwen looking at the flowers at the Blackburn and District Allotments and Gardens Federation Show.

But one of the main attractions was the parade including young people enjoying the occasion
