A MAN has been taken to hospital following a three-car crash on the motorway this morning.
The collision involved a Kia, a Toyota and a Vauxhall and was on the southbound carriageway on the A1(M), just south of the A690 junction at Carrville, Durham.
Durham Constabulary said the alarm was raised at 8.30am.
The extent of the man’s injuries is not known.
A spokesman for North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.08am to a road traffic collision on the A1(M) just off the A690.
“We dispatched a double crewed ambulance to the scene.
“A male patient was transported the University Hospital of north Durham.”
One lane was blocked while emergency services dealt with the crash, which did cause traffic delays, but the road is now reopen.
