AUTHORITIES have warned of potential flooding after days of heavy rain.
The Environment Agency has issued an amber warning for the River Irwell's upper catchment area including parts of Bolton, Bury, Ramsbottom and Oldham.
It comes as forecasters predict the downpours will continue this week, with lighter showers expected today (Monday) and heavier rain to come on Tuesday and Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency warned residents to "be prepared" for flooding.
They said: "River levels are forecast to rise as a result of persistent heavy rainfall. Consequently, flooding of low lying land, roads and farmland is possible for the next 24 hours.
"Our incident response staff are closely monitoring weather forecasts and river levels and will issue further updates if necessary.
"Please be aware of your surroundings and keep up to date with the current situation."
