A DANCE and electronic music festival is coming to Warrington for the first time.

‘Bohemian’ festival Indian Summer launched in Frodsham in 2018 but this year is moving to Moat Lane show ground in Rixton on Saturday, August 31.

Revellers can expect seven stages of genre-spanning music on a 40 acre site which has the capacity for 5,000 people.

More than 60 artists will perform throughout the day and up until 1am on a range of themed stages such as The Rainforest and The Tunnel.

Germaine Williams, one of the organisers, said: “This is most definitely not a commercial event – more an eclectic modern day bohemian festival where people will hug you while the music takes you away into the lasers.

“This year we are moving to Warrington – a bigger and better 40 acre site which has lush green space, a building perfect for a warehouse party and a poly tunnel fit for an ‘outdoor indoor’ party.

“As well as seven stages of music we also have a range of food outlets for every taste including vegetarian and vegan.

“Being an over 21s event we have ensured the bars will be stocked with craft ales, lagers and spirits as well as soft drinks and water.”

Among the performers are Chad Jackson, Pete Orme, Paul Bleasdale, Rob Tissera, Si Frater, Daz Partington, Jon Connor, Stevie Best and Paul Jamez.

Festival goers can also camp at the Indian Summer site so they can dance into the early hours.

And the bohemian vibe extends to the ‘Taberna marketplace’ which will sell recycled goods, upcycled furniture, ornaments, jewellery, clothing and a host of other environmentally friendly products.

There will also be a tattoo parlour, chill out area, yoga classes, palm reading, massages and spiritual healing and you can even take a break from the music to watch graffiti artists and wood carvers make their masterpieces.

On the line-up is Warrington’s mash-up trio Scratch whose twist on classic songs have sent them to stages all over the UK, from weddings to festivals.

The only place Em Davies, Joe Forber and Jonjo Secker haven’t played is a dance festival – until now.

Jonjo said: “It’s great to have something in the town that’s showcasing underground electronic music.

“They’re also offering us somewhere we can showcase what we do too.”

Em said: “It’s something different, offering an absolutely banging weekend of dance music of all kinds.

“We’re so excited to be part of it and on the same bill with some incredible DJs that have played all over the world.”

Joe added: “It’s wicked that Steve, Germaine and the team are giving us a chance to be part of their world.

“We can’t wait to rave with some of the best DJs.”
