A 15-YEAR-OLD boy who was caught driving a Vauxhall Insignia dangerously in Radcliffe on November 11 last year, has been referred to a youth offender panel for nine months. At Manchester Youth Court the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to committing the offence as well as having no licence or insurance and failing to stop for police. He was ordered to pay £105 in costs and charges.

A SHOPLIFTER who stole packs of bacon and gammon steaks from a Tesco Express has been electronically tagged. At Manchester Magistrates' Court Alan Holt, aged 49, of Fieldhead Avenue, Bury, admitted stealing the meat, worth £196, on February 7. He also admitted stealing more meat on two other occasion and toiletries a cold medication from Home Bargains. He was sentenced to a 7pm to 7am curfew for eight weeks and was ordered to pay £261 in compensation.

A MAN who entered a garden in Fairfield Drive, Bury, in breach of a restraining order has been sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months. At Manchester Magistrates' Court David Marsden, aged 49, of Powell Street, Bury pleaded guilty to committing the offence on June 6. The court also ordered him to pay £200 in costs and charges.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced a man to an electronically tagged curfew after he admitted assaulting a man in Whitefield on March 22, damaging his car window and using threatening behaviour. David Brown, aged 40, of Fountain Place, Whitefield, must remain at his home address during the 12 week curfew, participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and pay £100 in compensation plus £170 in costs and charges.

A DRUG driver has been fined £180 after he was found guilty of driving an Audi RS6 on Angouleme Way, Bury, on August 2 last year after using cannabis. Tayyib Ullah, aged 26, of Heywood Street, Bury, denied committing the offence but was convicted after a trial. He was banned from driving for 12 months and also ordered to pay £430 in costs and charges.

A THIEF has been jailed for 31 weeks after he admitted shoplifting bottles of vodka from Lidl in Bury and threatening members of staff. He also admitted stealing goods from Asda in Radcliffe and Currys, obstructing police officers and stealing charity boxes belonging to the Sunny Days Fund and Bury Cancer Support. Manchester magistrates heard how Christopher Stewart, aged 30, of Halstead Close, Radcliffe, was already subject to suspended sentences when he committed the offence and has a history of failing to comply with court orders.

A DRINK driver has been ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and is banned from the roads for 22 months. At Manchester Magistrates' Court Richard Warren, aged 54, of Byron Avenue, Prestwich, pleaded guilty to being over the alcohol limit while driving a VW Tiguan on Bury Old Road and Bury New Road, Prestwich, on April 28. He also admitted failing to stop after an accident with a Ford Fiesta.

MAGISTRATES have sentenced Jordan McLaughlin, aged 20, of Crompton Close, Radcliffe, to a conditional discharge for 12 months after he admitted handling a stolen VW Polo on July 26. McLaughlin was also ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

A MAN who stole honey, worth £80, from Tesco in Bury on May 17 has been ordered to have treatment for drug addiction. At Manchester Magistrates' Court Kevin Graham, aged 37, of Bury New Road, pleaded guilty, was fined £20 told he must also participate in 15 days of rehabilitation activities and must pay £85 towards prosecution costs.

MAGISTRATES have fined a man £120 after he admitted damaging a neighbour's window and door. Romano Degisi, aged 30, of Topping Fold, Bury, was ordered to pay £200 in compensation plus £115 in costs and charges.

A WOMAN who was caught carrying a knife at the Metrolink Station in Bury has been jailed for 38 weeks by Manchester magistrates. Karla Dilley, aged 30, of Downham Grove, Prestwich, pleaded guilty to committing the offence on May 31. The court heard that she has serious mental health problems. Dilley was ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

A TEENAGER has been referred to Bury youth offender panel for 12 months after he admitted carrying a flick knife in Market Street, Bury on March 23 and, on September 13 last year, stealing a set of keys, possessing cannabis and carrying scissors on Ainsworth Road. Magistrates at Manchester Youth Court also ordered the 16-year-old to pay £170 in costs and charges.
