EVICTION notices have appeared at a town centre nightclub.

The owners of IKONIC are behind on their rent prompting the owner of the building to take it back say the landlord's lawyers.

Eviction notices appeared in the doors of the club yesterday morning revealing owners K/S Bolton UK had “re-entered” the property in Nelson Square.

As a result of the landlord taking back the property, the lease has come to an end, says the notice.

Daniel Thomas of Primas Law is acting on behalf of the owner.

Mr Thomas said: “Basically it’s down to payments.

“We have taken back the property, the lease is now at an end and I will be discussing with my client how they want to move forward.

“It will probably be let to someone else, whoever wants to take it on.”

IKONIC opened in September last year following a £500,000 refurbishment of the premises.

However, the club came up against licensing issues and had to cancel events on more than one occasion.

In November it closed temporarily because of a licensing issue and a wrestling event had to be relocated with just a day’s notice.

The next month a ticketed event had to be postponed to the following week, again organisers cited “licensing issues” as the reason. On that occasion the club promised refunds and free tickets to partygoers.

In February an under-18s night had to be rescheduled at the last minute because of an issue with the sound system.

In March it was revealed that the licensing issues stemmed from the refurbishment of the property which meant the layout of the club no longer matched the layout associated with the licence it had been granted in 2016.

The owners went on the rectify this and at the end of March the club was allowed to open under strict conditions, preventing it from holding under-18s nights or sporting events.

In April the club opened for the first time since New Year’s Eve.

At the time of writing the club is still promoting ticket sales for an event called I am a Raver to be held at the venue on June 22.

No mention of the eviction notices has been made on the club’s social media pages and the owners of IKONIC have been approached for a comment.
