ANOTHER 145 homes in Bolton are reporting power cuts after a major outage affected 900 properties in the borough.

Electricity North West has said around 67 homes in Little Hulton, Walkden and Worsley are currently without power while another 78 have been affected by outages in the Belmont area.

Engineers have been sent to both areas to try and deal with the outage and residents are advised that power should return this evening.

The problems in Belmont are expected to be resolved by 7.30, while the outage in Little Hulton is expected to be resolved by 10.15pm.

Earlier today, Electricity North West engineers said they were aware of a "large fault" affecting the BL3 postcode area.

A team of engineers was sent to the site to resolve the outage which affecting properties across Great Lever, Deane and Little Lever.

A spokesman for Electricity North West said: "A power cut, which was caused by a fault at a local substation, caused the loss of power to 162 customers at 12.34pm this afternoon.

"We responded quickly and restored power to 162 customers within minutes.

"A further 941 customers were restored at 1.11pm and our engineers are still onsite working to restore the remaining eight customers as quickly as possible."

The power cut was first reported to the board shortly after 12.30pm today.
