THE top team in the Premier Division of the Bolton and District Table Tennis League, Ramsbottom Town A, had a predictable 27-3 victory over bottom team Hilton D.

The match saw the welcome return of Richard Lightowler, who had been out for most of the season after a knee operation.

Second-placed Flixton Cricket Club A’s result against Radcliffe Cricket Club is still to come in, while third-placed Ramsbottom Town B had a good 19-9 win against Flixton Cricket Club B, assisted by nine points from Brian Clements.

Fourth-placed Hilton A made no mistake against second-bottom Ladybridge A as they ran out 26-14 winners with nine points from Robert Hall and Andrew Michnowiec.

A mid-table match saw Little Lever Cricket Club A just beat two-man Nomads 16-13.

In Division One, the big match was the clash of the top two teams in which Burning Desire managed to beat second-placed Wigan TTC 19-14 despite a resisting nine points from Daniel Watkinson.

Third-placed Ramsbottom Town D had an easy 27-4 victory over bottom team Meadow Ben A.

Fourth-placed Coburg beat ninth-placed Farnworth Social Circle A 24-12, helped by nine points from Chris Naylor.

Polonia Club A had a 21-14 success against mid-table Wingates, with nine points from Dawid Kakol and Lukasz Serdiuk.

Mid-table Little Lever Cricket Club B beat second-bottom Heaton Cricket Club A 21-16 helped by nine points from Roy Costello.

It was very close between Hilton’s D and C teams, the D team edging it 19-18 despite a resisting nine points from Andrew Morey.

Division Two leaders Saint Paul’s Peel had a 21-14 victory over eighth-placed Ladybridge B, with John Birchall putting up the resistance with nine for Ladybridge.

Second-placed Polonia Club B surprisingly lost 21-19 to second-bottom Walkden Methodists, and third-placed Hilton E beat fourth-placed Heaton Cricket Club B 23-11, with nine points from Matthew Kennedy and Jei Makino.

Fifth-placed Bolton TTC drew 16-16 with Farnworth Social Circle B, Peter McCormick scoring nine points for Bolton, and third-bottom Hilton Top Spinners pipped bottom team Hilton F 17-16 assisted by nine points from David Clay.

In Division Three, Farnworth Social Circle C continued to show their superiority with a 24-12 victory over fourth-placed Polonia Club C, helped by nine points from Ben Wyatt.

Squeezing into second place, Meadow Ben C beat fellow promotion contenders Meadow Hill A 17-15, despite a resisting nine points from John Nuttall.

Mid-table matches saw Meadow Ben D beat Hilton G 18-14 with Martyn Rolling holding the fort with nine points for Hilton, and Albany just beat Hilton H 17-14 with Wes Jones on nine points for Hilton.

Near the bottom of the table, Ladybridge C pipped juniors Hilton I 18-17 assisted by nine points from John Hilton, and Irlam Steel beat bottom team Meadow Hill B 26-6 with nine points from David Yates and Matt Hood.
