RAMSBOTTOM Town A made no mistake capitalising on Flixton Cricket Club A's open week as they leapfrogged them into top spot in the Bolton Table Tennis League Premier Division.

They beat Little Lever Cricket Club A 25-8, with nine points from Michael Moir, to go 18 points ahead of Flixton.

Third-placed Ramsbottom Town B had a 19-14 victory over Hilton A, assisted by nine points from Sandy Choong.

Fourth-placed Flixton Cricket Club B only had two players and were pipped 16-15 by a Wharton side four places below them, Anthony Bates putting up resistance for Flixton with nine points.

Mid-table Radcliffe Cricket Club had a 22-12 victory over Nomads, helped by nine points from Kristof Pinter.

In the clash of the bottom two teams, Ladybridge A beat basement outfit Hilton B 20-17.

Division One leaders, Burning Desire, continued their formidable bid to return to the top flight with a 24-5 beating of 10th-placed Heaton Cricket Club A, with nine points from Brett Haslam and Ben Armstrong.

Second-placed Wigan TTC thrashed fifth-placed Polonia Club A 24-4 with nine points from Daniel Watkinson and Paul Clark.

Third-placed Ramsbottom Town D beat Hilton D 24-10, assisted by nine points from Martin Holt, and fourth-placed Coburg thrashed Meadow Ben A 27-4.

Mid-table Wingates beat Hilton C, one place below them, 21-14 despite a resisting nine points from Andrew Morey.

Saint Paul’s Peel went to the top of Division Two, two points ahead of Hilton E, by hammering them 25-8 with nine points from Ray Isherwood and Lee Devenport.

Polonia Club B are five points behind after an impressive 25-9 win against bottom team Hilton F, Marian Bleho and Vojtech Sanc scoring nine points.

Fourth-placed Heaton Cricket Club B also won well, beating mid-table Brasszone 25-8 with nine points from Martin Hulton and Dave Jones.

Fifth-placed Meadow Ben B edged their game against Hilton Top Spinners 20-17, helped by nine points from Mike Heaton.

After a promising early-season, Bolton TTC have slipped to mid-table and last week lost 19-14 to a Ladybridge B side two places below them, with Ladybridge's John Birchall scoring nine points.

Second-bottom Walkden Methodists beat a Farnworth Social Circle B team one place above them, 20-17, in spite of a resisting nine from Martyn Garnett.

Still looking unassailable at the top of Division Three, Farnworth Social Circle C beat their own fifth-placed D team 21-12, helped by nine points from Ben Wyatt.

Second-placed Meadow Ben C beat 10th-placed Ladybridge C 25-12, assisted by nine points from Ian Wheeldon.

Two points behind them in third place are Meadow Ben A, who had a 25-13 victory over fourth-placed Polonia Club C, with nine points from Roy Caswell and John Nuttall.

Meadow Ben C and Meadow Hill A meet tonight.

Mid-table Meadow Ben D beat bottom-of-the-table Meadow Hill B 21-13 with nine points from Alan Weall and Neil Cowburn.

Mid-table action saw Albany beat Hilton G 19-17 assisted by nine points from David Barrow.

Second-bottom Juniors Hilton I saw off a one-man Irlam Steel Social Club side, although Irlam’s David Yates provided impressive resistance with nine points.

Irlam are now having problems fulfilling fixtures with team members moving away as they prepare to leave the league.
