AN ambitious project to overhaul Bury's health and social care servies is not likely to see savings for years councillors were told.

Bury's health bosses and political leaders are embarking on a project to link all of the borough's services into a Local Care Organisation (currently operating as an alliance).

A Mutually Binding Agreement was brought before Bury Council's health scrutiny committee on Tuesday setting out each party's role and responsibilities.

Speaking to councillors, Kath Wynne-Jones, interim executive with Bury Local Care Alliance, said: "Some of the other places that have done this have demonstrated it's taken two, three, four, years to find efficiencies. We believe we're setting up the right infrastructure to succeed."

She also told councillors: "We're not promising a from day one we will have a single IT solution. I think that's a few years down the line."

Work is also being done to prevent an extra layer of bureaucracy springing up Ms Wynne-Jones said.
